During the fiscal year 2024-25, government institutions running in huge losses had to bear a loss of Rs 123 billion, while in the previous fiscal year 2023-24, this loss was Rs 30.6 billion. According to the report, there was a huge increase of 300 percent in the losses of government institutions in the fiscal year 2025, with NHA leading the way with Rs 153 billion in terms of losses.
In addition, Quetta Electric lost Rs 58.1 billion, Sukkur Electric lost Rs 29.6 billion, Pakistan Railways lost Rs 26.5 billion, Peshawar Electric lost Rs 19.7 billion, while Pakistan Steel Mills lost Rs 15.6 billion. In the first half of the fiscal year 2025, government agencies with large losses reported a total loss of Rs 343 billion, but the loss improved by 2 percent compared to the previous year.
